Echelon Right asked: I keep hearing A LOT of commercials for HD radio and have a few questions. Does anyone actually use this? Are there actually hidden stations, or just the same crappy stations in digital quality?
I’m just curious because i have yet to meet anyone who actually listens to HD radio. Thanks.

I don’t have a HD Radio, Nor Will I Be Getting One But I Know A Lot About Them.
YES! There are commercials on HD Radio because you still get your AM And FM Only it sounds a Bit Better. There are hidden stations, it just depends where you are in the U.S. but usually if there are hidden stations in your area, it would be the talk of the town. From what I’ve noticed, there aren’t many hidden stations out there yet. You will still get your crappy terrestrial radio stations in the digital quality. Chances are if you have a newer car or nice radio, you might be getting the HD Content Already. Personally, Don’t get HD Radio, the price of radios are somewhat High, the Programing Won’t Be Any Good. I recomend Satellite Radio Over HD Radio.
Actually, both. The main HD channel is the same “crappy” station, but many FM stations have a second and even third channel with some great commercial-free stuff…especially in the big cities.
AM stations have the same programming, but in better-than-FM quality.
It’s still REALLY new. Our AM has just switched to HD, but I don’t know a single person who has a receiver. I think we need to give the technology about a year… let more stations make the upgrade.
I have an HD radio (Accurian).
In New York there are a couple of FM stations broadcasting on the sidebands (HD-2 and one on HD-3). The stations are basically just music and sweepers, no on-air personalities and are pretty much typical programming….very few innovations.
The big problem with HD is that the signals are crappy. There are a few stations that do transmit on HD-2 in NYC but I can’t pull them in. Though when it does work, the FM signals sound CD-ish and the AM signals sound “FM”
