I have a KDC MP232 and it is, like the one you are looking at, "HD Ready." Meaning if I want HD radio I have to shell out another $150-$200 for the tuner. The upside to the HD is that there is no subscription fee to listen to. But still, sat tuners are average $100, and in about six months or so, you will have spent more on the sat radio subscription then the HD. But, also still, they area you are in has to have HD channels or it is almost worthless. If there are none in your area, all you will get is the analog but with a little better clarity. Much like an HDTV without the HD channels.

I only know of one deck that currently comes with HD-radio built in (JVC KD-HDR1). All the others are "HD Radio ready" which means that they require the add-on tuner. Given the success of JVC's new unit, however, I expect to see many other manufacturers follow their lead with next year's models.
