I was curious on the diff between HD Radio vs. XM radio. It seems HD blows XM out of the water?

I think on of the key differences is that XM and Sirius are satellite based. Thus you can drive anywhere in the continental US and listen continously.
HDRadio is still broadcast radio sent by local stations. It just is a digital broadcast (vs analog traditional FM and AM), can fit more stations due to compression, and should be better quality.
HDRadio does require a new tuner (just like XM and Sirius), so I imagine the base equipment costs may be similar. But you are right, XM/Sirius require a monthly fee after that.
I think it comes down to content. If you like the local stations, then just upgrade to HDRadio. If you want Howard Stern or other Satellite only stations, or drive out of your local area, XM/Sirius maybe a better match.
